Sleep

Strong link exists between insomnia and dementia

We discuss the steep, severe and growing risks of not getting enough sleep to brain health.

Staying awake all night contributes to the buildup of amyloid plaques in the brain, a precursor to Alzheimer’s.

A 2018 review article highlights changes in the brain down to the cellular and even DNA level derived from sleep issues.

Not getting enough sleep is another way to damage your hippocampus. And a shrinking,

unhappy hippocampus is one of the signs of Alzheimer’s. The title of a meta-analysis also from 2018 sums it up nicely:

“Sleep Disturbances Increase the Risk of Dementia.”

We also lay down time tested, scientifically validated, kid tested and mother approved ways to get all the shut eye you need for a happy brain.

Can't I just take a pill?

"That pill on TV said it would protect me."

"Or those capsules from the social media post by the friend of the cousin of that girl I went to grade school with that promised to reverse acne and dementia, I can just take those right?"

I have been working with dementia patients for over a decade now, and if there was one all natural pill that would treat dementia I would be selling that instead of this book.

But there's not.

If ground up jelly fish really cured Alzheimer's, the creator of such a pill would be getting The Nobel Prize, not getting fined and penalized by the FDA for false advertising.

No cocktail of 11 different herbs and spices will prevent, treat or certainly not reverse dementia.

There a handful of supplements that can help, and we discuss them in the book.

But please remember they are Supplemental to a comprehensive program.
